The Triple 48: Pushing Boundaries in Ultra-Endurance Sports

Belgian ultra-endurance athlete Matthieu Bonne is redefining the limits of human performance. On January 13, 2025, the three-time world record holder announced his latest ambitious venture: "The Triple 48." This series of challenges will see him attempt to break three world records in three disciplines within 48 hours each, cementing his place as one of the most versatile and determined athletes in the world.

A Legacy of Excellence

Since transitioning to a full-time professional athlete in 2024, Matthieu Bonne has continuously raised the bar for ultra-endurance sports. Supported by a multidisciplinary team—including a sports doctor, physiotherapist, dietitian, mental coach, and commercial agents at a new agency world—Bonne has achieved extraordinary feats, including:

  • World Record for 7 Days Cycling (Arizona): Covering 3,619.72 kilometers in one week, shattering the previous record.

  • World Record for Longest Nonstop Open Water Swim (Greece): Swimming 129.64 kilometers in 60 hours and 55 minutes, an unparalleled display of stamina and mental fortitude.

  • World Record for 6 Days Ultrarunning (Hungary): Running 1,045.52 kilometers in six days, earning widespread respect in the ultra-running community.

These remarkable achievements have set the stage for 2025, where Bonne aims to conquer an entirely new set of challenges and inspire others to pursue their dreams relentlessly.

The Triple 48: Challenges for 2025

Bonne’s "The Triple 48" will consist of the following:

  • 48-Hour Running Record (February 21-23, Taiwan): Matthieu will take on the current record held by running legend Yiannis Kouros. After a month-long high-altitude training camp in Kenya, he is primed to push his limits at the 48H Ultramarathon in Taipei.

  • 48-Hour Swimming Record (Summer 2025, Location TBD): Details about this challenge will be revealed later, but it promises to be another test of endurance and resilience in open water.

  • 48-Hour Cycling Record (Fall 2025, Location TBD): Closing out the year, Bonne will return to cycling to attempt yet another record-breaking feat.

Inspiring the World

For Matthieu Bonne, these challenges are more than personal milestones; they are an opportunity to inspire others to dream big and break their own boundaries. “My goal is not only to set records but to show the world what is possible when you dare to dream and push beyond your limits,” Bonne shared.

A Global Stage

Each of these challenges will be a global event, bringing attention to the dedication, innovation, and spirit required to achieve greatness. Bonne’s journey will undoubtedly inspire not only athletes but also brands and organizations looking to align with a narrative of resilience and determination.
