2022 promises to be a fantastic year for sports. Even in our own league, it seems to be getting very exciting. The Play-offs are getting closer, and they will once again provide an exciting conclusion to the football season. And what about the 2022 World Cup and its impact on our league?
Belgian football has a lot to offer. Every week, 26 professional teams and 18 FIFA players compete for success, both on the field and online. With 444 professional matches, 10,000 hours of live coverage, and 15,000 hours of delayed reporting, the Pro League has a lot to offer. The leagues are broadcast in 150 countries spread across all continents and have the potential for 4.5 million weekly impressions. A total of 7,300 pages about the Pro League are published in Belgian newspapers, and the leagues have the potential to reach approximately 2.3 million people through social media channels.
After 26 matchdays, Union currently leads the standings. Do you think the promoted team will be able to maintain this position until the end of the season? Follow it closely because it promises to be an exciting second half of the season, with several clubs competing for a spot in the Play-offs.
Looking ahead to the next season, the 2022 World Cup immediately stands out on the calendar. The consequences for the Belgian league are significant. The 2022-2023 season in the Pro League will be longer than ever before, two weeks longer than this season. We will start on Friday, July 22, and only finish on Sunday, June 4. The World Cup will lead to a pause in the Jupiler Pro League for a little over a month starting on Sunday, November 13. A day later, the Red Devils will assemble, and a week later, they will begin their campaign in Qatar. Once the World Cup final is over, everything will quickly resume. Internationals, therefore, have little rest. Three days later, there is the 1/8th final of the Croky Cup, and another three days later, there is a new matchday in the Pro League.
So, it promises to be a spectacular year filled with football!
